Plunge-Dressing DR.KAISER

Plunge-dressing rollers contain the entire workpiece geometry and transfer this geometry to the grinding wheel by means of a single infeed motion. Grinding wheels for profile grinding applications with medium to high production requirements can be dressed most efficiently with this type of diamond dressing roller.

Since the workpiece geometry and surface finish are defined primarily by the Plunge-dressing roller, it is critical that the dressing roller contain the correct diamond type, size and setting pattern. Secondary issues such as dressing roller rotational speed, direction and infeed rate can also influence workpiece quality.

Diamond Pattern

Optimum dressing results can be achieved by proper selection of the diamond-setting pattern. Handset diamonds in a specific pattern can achieve required workpiece finishes as well as lessen the possibility for workpiece burn. A randomly distributed diamond pattern can be used alone or can sometimes be combined with handset diamonds to produce fine surface finishes on the workpiece. Diamonds that are placed in a specific pattern are often used to influence the action of the roller in a specific way during the dressing process. DR. KAISER utilizes proprietary diamond dressing roller bonds to produce a wear-resistant, heat absorbing matrix insuring long diamond roller life. The DR. KAISER bond matrix allows areas of the rollers that are prone to high wear, such as small male corner radii, to be reinforced with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) inserts or with specially selected natural diamonds to extend the life of plunge-dressing rollers.
