MCD-Dressing DR.KAISER

Dressing with stationary dressing tools is still one of the most important procedures to condition grinding wheels. Monocrystalline diamond (MCD) dressing tools utilizing synthetically manufactured diamonds will reach high levels of definition, stability, repeatability and long lifetime, especially dressing ceramic abrasive grinding wheels.

Monocrystalline Diamond (MCD)

Monocrystalline diamond is synthesized by placing graphite under extremely high pressure; the resulting crystals are laser cut into rods used in the dressing tools. These rods exhibit a homogenous crystalline structure with smooth properties. The rods are held in the dressing tool by a hard, wear resistant metal bond matrix produced during the sintering process. This bond has excellent heat conducting properties, allowing the rapid heat transfer from MCD to the holder.

Range of Application

Using MCD allows the transcription of complex profiles and radii to the grinding wheel, due to the consistent form of the crystal rods exposed during the whole life of the dressing tool.

MCD-Dressers can be used in "single part production" but are equally beneficial in "mass production" (e.g. bearing or automobile industries). Conventional tools like the single point or natural diamond blade dressers can be replaced without any changes to the tool holder or mounting arrangements.

By utilizing the variable size, the positioning and quantity of the rods within the tool it is possible to manufacture an individual tool, which is able to dress the latest, most modern grinding wheel material and structures. Defined profiles lapped on the top of the MCD rods in the tool allows not only conventional cylindrical and flat dressing, but also general profile dressing.
